How LeafLit Works
1. Initial Consultation
2. Implementation and Costs
3. Disclosures
4. Timing
Initial Consultation:
LeafLit provides you with an initial consultation at no cost. During your initial consultation, which usually takes place by phone, we will request you provide us with a complete picture of your financial affairs, including information regarding your medical debt, as well as an idea of your total assets and liabilities.
LeafLit will then assess and evaluate your unique circumstances in order to determine whether negotiation of your medical debt is a feasible option. In this initial stage, we take into account all the information you provide to us, and use our best judgment to determine whether our services can be of use.
Implementation and Costs:
With LeafLit, there are absolutely no up front costs. LeafLit is paid if and when we successfully reduce your medical debt. And we are only paid an amount that is proportionate to the amount saved. At no cost to you, we review your case to determine, in our best judgment, if negotiation is a feasible option. If it is, one of our representatives will work with you in order to come up with a workable plan and strategy for the settlement of your medical debt.
Next, at no cost to you, LeafLit will contact your medical providers in an attempt to negotiate and reduce your medical debt. During this time, it is crucial that you keep us informed of any changes or developments in your situation, including any new medical bills or new medical charges.
All this for free? Is there a catch? No. We like to base our success on your success. If LeafLit is ultimately successful in negotiating and reducing your total medical debt, we set aside a "Success Fee," which will be incorporated into the final settlement amount. "Success Fees" are only incurred if LeafLit successfully reduces all of your medical debt and are proportionate to the amount saved.
Our "Success Fees" are typically a small percentage of the amount we save you on your medical bills. "Success Fees" are usually evaluated on a case by case basis, range anywhere from 5% to 10% of the total amount of money saved, and are based on a formula which takes into account your financial abilities and total debt.
All of our fees are disclosed to you up front, and you will have the opportunity to evaluate the cost benefit of our services without any obligations. In other words, there's no "fine print."
LeafLit also maintains agreements with various social service agencies around the country for pro bono (free) services. Please contact us to find out out more about our pro bono services, or to find out whether you or the agency you represent would qualify.
Disclosures:
LeafLit will never enter into any settlement arrangements with anyone without first consulting with you. We keep you informed and updated throughout the negotiation and post-negotiation process.
LeafLit advocates full disclosure for all of its clients, and practices along those same lines. We expect you to reciprocate by making yourself available to us in case questions come up or developments arise. Results are best achieved when we work together. Although LeafLit employs attorneys, LeafLit is not a law firm, and does not hold itself out as such. LeafLit does not provide legal representation or legal advice.
Timing:
It may take us some time to work with your medical providers. Timing varies, depending on the nature and amount of your debt. Regardless of the time it takes, LeafLit will endeavor to keep you apprised of its progress. We typically reply to your emails and phone calls within two business days, whenever possible.
